Download the walk in access map onto google maps. Find the CRP WIHA areas that are close to a a pivot sprinkler, and you will find birds. My pointer dosn't have an ounce of aggression in him. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that throughout the years there have been breeders that have fortitude to cull aggressive dogs. It's a tough thing to do and that's why I may never breed dogs, because I don't have what it takes to do...

I am moving to Oklahoma from Colorado in a few months. I will have to start treating for heartworm and fleas. Has anyone had experince with Trifexis? My parents suggested it. Apparently it protects against heart worm, roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms and kills fleas.

I was out in Goodland, KS last weekend. There was about 6-8" of snow and the temp was hovering around 10-15 degrees. Didn't slow my pointer down much, but I could tell he was cold. I felt sorry for him so I let him ride up front in the cab. A long haired dog might fair better in that type of weather...

I hunted some WIHA areas around Goodland, and was impressed with the phesant numbers. I would like to go a little further east and get into some quail. Any suggestions for areas that hold quail? I am coming from Colorado so I dont want to go too far east if I can help it.

I was rather impressed with the WIHA around Goodland. If you head further into Kansas, let me know how it is. My gut feeling is that the hunting will get better the closer you get to I-35.

I take my English Pointer to Bijou Animal Clinic. They are not neccesarily bird dog experts, but for annual shots and checkups they do a good job, and they are not going to try to sell you every vacine on the market.

Depending where you are coming from, the cost of living can be a shocker. Expect to pay $1,500-$2,000 for a two bedroom house. The good thing is your only 2 hrs from some decent phesant hunting.

I think you are on the right track looking at the wingmaster. If you have picked up an 870 express lately, they look like crap. I would go with a used wingmaster with some decent walnut and blued steel.

I am in a similar situation, although not as young as you. I live in a condo in Colorado with a 2 year old pointer that I am training myself and I am always broke as well. I do have a couple of suggestions for you. As far as pigeons I catch all of mine off of their roost with a fishing net at night....
