Re: Bias against walking handled dogs
I've judged some dogs that were "walked" at horseback trials and have tended to be more impressed with those dogs when they hang on the edges, have speed, stamina, and show just how broke they are when a limb find occurs and it takes the handler a long time to walk to the dog. But, from what I have...

Re: Bias against walking handled dogs
I would think the handler would hope for any advantage they could get, so I don't see why the horseback handler would gripe about the walking handler. I think I would prefer the extra benefit of being able to see better and get to my dog faster

Re: gsp puppy where to start
I would start by joining a dog training/testing club like NAVHDA or VHDF....for a very small investment, you will gain access to training knowledge and help that will help you reach your goals and make a bunch of new friends to boot!

Re: Irish setter?
Red setters and AKc setters were the same thing from aprox 1950-1976, when the AKC parent club pulled reciprocity on registration, so I would bet you that 99% of the "FIELD BRED" AKC dogs go back to Red setter stock. As I recall some dogs whelped in 1976 and not registered till after reciprosity was...

Bob Wehle wrote in Wing and Shot that he had a phenomenal pup whose bite he checked one day. The bit was jacked and Wehle said he wouldn't stay in the kennel. To you breeders out there, do you look at bite at all? What's your philosophy on breeding dogs with jacked bites? If you look negatively on ...
