Re: Dog loves rocks? How to stop?
I'm worried about his teeth really. Polamise, I know he's doing it because I allow it. The problem is, I'm unsure how I should proceed with stopping it. I'm afraid of correcting with ecollar cause I'm unsure of it's affect on other issues like retrieving, or retrieving in water since that's where he...

Dog loves rocks? How to stop?
My 18 month DD loves rocks, or hates them. We spend a lot of time in the water, mostly creeks. He will spend almost all his time picking up rocks and carrying them. He'll even pull rocks up from deeper water and stick his head under water to get them. He's also begun doing this in the yard. When it'...

I'm opposite of oldbeek. I've found quail very hard to keep alive, and don't fly well. Chukar hold tight, fly great, keep easy, and IME recall very well if not flushed too far.

I don't have any special attachments for roading, I just drop them off and follow with the truck. The dogs set the pace, normally around 20mph, slowing down to about 15mph after three or four miles. I let the dogs decide about how far, but usually 5-7 miles. When we first started, I think it was aro...

Good looking pup! Professional training at 4 or 5 months? I think you could ease up on the pup till after hunting season. Are you looking for a fully trained dog this season? I like the Franchi guns also, but the doubles may be too light for recoil sensitive folks and heavy pheasant loads. I think the Stoegers are quite a bit heavier, and that's probably a good thing in this instance.

I use Chukar a lot. When planted in thick brush, they hardly ever move. In an open field, with the dog not around, I've seen them run 100 yards. Usually for me, when the dog gets close, they sit tight, and flush well.

I used it on my pup. I never found a flea or tick on my dog under normal circumstances. We are in tick infested areas ever day of the summer. After a run where he would get into the ticks bad, you could find them on him as soon as he got to the truck. A few hours later, they would be gone.
