Re: Hawk Problem with Homers any tips?

I don't let my birds sit in trees. I make them fly by trowing stuff at them or something to get them going. When they stop flying a call them in to trap. You maybe letting them out too late. My birds will usually stop flying 30 minutes before dark. I get real scared if they don't stop flying a while...

Innotek sucks but "I think" that innotek is now part of sportdog. They bought the company or something. Anyway the 1-8 or 1-15 is just the power adjustment and when it is at the top number it is the highest. You will never need 15 levels and 15 may have the same amount of power as 8.

Re: Question for OHIOGSP

If they are routing out of sight then you could start small tosses. Just be sure to not go further until they all come good from each distance. The one once per day should put you about right feed wise. They should loft fly and listen to you also.

You don't have many options, really. You will not be allowed to trap this or any other hawk unless you are not caught or get a falconers permit. Good luck with that! The reason your birds are a target is because they are weak. Get enough birds and fly the heck out of them get them strong and the haw...

Put some stuff on the floor like 5 gallon buckets or boxes and make small spaces for them to hide like in a corner or something. I also want to add that fat pigeons are not strong flyers, not good breeders, and are not healthy. Last week I took my birds on a long training toss and they did not get back for 6 hours. How many people have dog training birds that would fly for 6 hours? Mine eat 1 once a day per bird.

They will eat 4 times what they need if they are alowed. If the feed is not gone in 10 minutes pick it up. I agree with most said on this post, and range can be brought in on a big running dog. Dogs have a natural range that they want to run if they are not trained to do differently. PIgeon walking around pecking at the ground is very normal if they are left outside to do what they want. I have 2 kinds of grit in my flight loft and my birds love to eat off the ground I believe they are looking for trace minerals and stuff they might not get in the grit.

Get your 3 birds so they will fly around the loft good and trap when you whistle. Basically train them good. Then get more, pigeons are very much "monkey see monkey do". The trained ones will teach the others. Get yb's that are between 1 month and 1.5 months old.

20 minutes is alot of food. 10 minutes is more like what you want. Take the feed out and leave it out. Always close the trap at night. If it is dark they aren't coming in. Put 1 ounce per bird down everyday for the amount of birds in the loft. Do this in the evening right before dark. Then close the...

How old are the breeders? Is there any damage to the chicks? bloody? You said their is food in the crop? You feel seeds in there? Has the birds bred before? succesfully? Is there grit in the pen at all times? Are these from multiple pairs or the same one over and over?
