Yep pear, You are probably right I just like a 50lb. dog I guess. There is a huge size difference in the GSP breed. I guess when you breed 2 dogs you never know what size the offspring will be. I had a litter this spring and have been training one of the 9 month old pups from this litter. Well he is...

Slow growing pup!!
I have a GSP that is going on 1 year this month and she is still small. There is a pic of her under the ""Took my camera training today!!"" post in the training forum. In the second pic she is the one on point. She is also the one in the last pic. She is about 35lbs. and pretty muscular not thin. I ...

Tak, This tool is great if you have a dog that won't stand at whoa. You know how they want to follow you. You can push back at them when walking out to the front. You can stay in front of them and keep putting them at whoa as they are trying to get to you. I think this works because the dog is stopp...

What is different? The beek is smaller head looks different? Where did you get the pigeon? My guess would be it is probably a roller or tumbler pigeon. These will work but like sandhill said not as good. I have a coop with a lot of good rollers. Then I have one with homers. This year I will probably...

Brett your dog will run with a brace mate. Just luck of the draw who it will be. I try to keep my dog away from the brace mates all together. When you come to the starting line most people stand right together. You don't have to do this you can move over to the boundries and start your dog away from...

""OldSchoolSpringer"" the SH hunt test is worthless. Are you kidding me how many do you have. In SH you dog has to hold point on birds, be steady to the shoot at least but most are steady to fall, back the other dog and retrieve to hand. This would not be a worthless dog to me. I hope you are talkin...

One of the problems I ran into with the JH is with tagging, playing, or aggression. Young dogs or ones that have not ran with alot of dogs especially ones of different breeds. I would try to run my dogs with alot of different dogs. I do not know anybody with a gordon then I got to run with one. My d...

You will have to teach the dog it can't catch birds. What I do is plant really good flying homers/wild pigeons. Birds that your dog can't catch. Bring my dog in on a checkcord stop it when it gets the scent. Then have an assistant wake that bird up but don't flush. Make sure you are in fairly low g...

Mine get a really bad chafing and scabs. The dog not me, but I am the one that has to put the vet perscribed cream on them. Yuk!! Maybe there is an ointment that would heal them faster. Around here people swear by this stuff called Nitrofurazone it is a horse ointment. I would check with your vet fi...

She is 7 mo. old I have just started working with her. Yesterday was the third time she was on birds. I had a checkcord on her and she was holding point good enough I could flush birds in front of her. She is a retrieving machine also, so I am very excited about this dog. You had hip surgery on you ...

I have just joined this forum and I think this is a great site. My question is to those who have FF dogs before. I am finishing my male gsp up right now. The last thing we have was FF and he did well I am now shooting birds for him to retrieve, he is starting to retrieve them. My question is when I ...
