Dont get east of the mountains much...but have limited access to land in the "Indain ford" area north of sisters, never hunted there.

He has even been known to turn dog loose at night and wait till morning to track down dog. Seems to be pretty succesfull on his hunts. I would rather "watch"' my...

Adoglife posted ""Those are some "exoctic" breeds to choose from. ""
yea i agree, but then I like to be a little different then the "norm" I do agree that a more common breed might be easier to find training on

Speaking on the Exotic breeds....anyone have any experience with the Stabyhoun?

I have been searching diffent local "hunting clubs" and most of them charge to hunt on their lands...understandable. The average cost I have found is around 200 for a "half day self-guided hunt". This seems a might steep to me...or is that a fair price? This for a pheasent hunt with up too a 9 bird ...

the GSP looks good but seems to be more a bird dog then a small game dog...or am I wrong?

I currently do more small game hunting then upland and even less Waterfowl. Will a game dog be good on birds...or am I trying to combine apples and oranges?

Im from western Oregon, so winters can get cold and wet. Kinda like what I have read about the Airedale and the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon.

I do a lot of traveling in a canoe/skiff so Im not sure how well an Airedale would do in water?
