Re: Pointing Dog Journal Brag!
Do the actual owners know the picture was painted?
That would be a great surprise to pick up the PDJ and see your three pups on the cover!

Re: Swimming Pool Training?
My dad has an above ground pool that his lab and golden retriever swim in. Just teach them to jump in or go in at the ladder. And taught them to go out at the ladder. They were corrected when going to the sides and rewarded when they swam to the ladder and climbed out. It has worked so far!

Re: Pup had accident while sleeping
Ha ... No I don't but this is normal? This can happen because it was truely an "accident" and not with an underlying problem?

Pup had accident while sleeping
My pup is 6 months old and just had an accident on the couch while she was sleeping and we were in the kitchen eating dinner. I was just wondering if this can be something serious. My brothers Lab had an accident a while ago while sleeping and the vet said it was most likely from the recent lymes tr...

Re: NAVHDA for a pointer?
Not sure if DelVal is the closest chapter to you, but here is the list of events. http://www.delvalnavhda.com/train.html I am also new to versatile dogs and NAVHDA. I went to the fall test last Sept. to observe and the members are great people. They willingly answered all my questions and explained ...

Re: CH vs. RU CH
Hmmm... now it makes sense. I have been seeing all these CH in front of dogs names and wondering why there are so many bench champions and why people are so proud of them. AFC not AKC ... duhh. Very confusing to a newbies.

Re: Flea And Tick Control
I have my first birdog as well a 6 month old GSP. I have spoken to my vet and have read in various places that Frontline and Advantix is becoming less and less effective. For whatever reasons, I'm not sure, so sorry I don't have any solid evidence of this. But my vet recommended Adams flea and tick ...

Re: New GSP on the way
I too am a first time GSP owner. She is currently just about 5.5 months. I too was concerned about the bonding issue with my pup because of work I was forced to bring her to my brothers house where his fiance took care of her throughout the day. This was for the first month or so I had her. It was g...

Re: Training for Spring testing
I would try to make it to a couple training clinics if I were you. They would def help and get you familiar with the test. I have my first pup too that will be tested this spring. I went to the fall test to watch and learn and everyone at my chapter was very willing to help and answer questions. Goo...
