Friends of ours that live south of Cashion had extensive damage to their home. I'm not sure where Andy is in relation to them, but I believe he is in the same area.

Re: Scott Davis of Treads and tracks
I bought a few of the launchers from Scott in the beginning, and even though it took quite a while to get things straightened out, he was always up front with me and did whatever it took to make sure I had what I needed. He seemed like such an honest and upright guy. Such a tragic loss. I'll be pray...

Good job, Andy! There are way too many of them around anyway. When I was little, I remember my dad helping me shoot a coyote when we lived on our farm in Iowa. I'd like to do that again sometime.

Re: Suggested Gun Dog Reading
My husband really likes The Old Man and the Boy by Robert Ruark. Although this is not about a particular gun dog,it was a great story about a grandfather teaching his grandson about hunting and life. When my kids were younger I read this one aloud to them, and they all enjoyed it, too.

We used to also have a parakeet or two around our other GSP. It was basically the same experience as you. The dog would finally leave him alone, but became very interested in the bird when he tried to fly in his cage. Really never had a problem though.

Our DK got his pad stuck between the bars on the door several months ago. He was really excited about something. I couldn't get it out, so I called for my son who is really good with him. He tried to get it unstuck, meanwhile the dog is barking and almost biting but not bearing down. He was in a lot...

Re: Issues with wolves
Concerning wolfhounds, it may depend on the breeding. I had my 9 month old DK attacked by Irish Wolfhounds at a hotel where there was a dog show in St. Louis a few years ago. The owner had him stitched up by a vet friend and paid by vet bills when we got home. Said she would no longer walk four at a...

Try not to be offended. They're just concerned for your dog. Consider yourself fortunate that something hasn't happened to your dog yet. I believe a hunting dog's desire to hunt could really get them into trouble if allowed to run free -- like somebody's chickens or chasing other livestock. My dad s...

This was a question I just asked a hunting friend of mine on Sunday. This is really interesting to see where terms we use today came from. How do spaniels fit into the whole picture?

This is a nice site -- lots of information and helpfule people.
Maybe we can get together sometime.

Yes, our sheltie does try to herd him. If I tell Cisco (the GSP) "no" about something, the sheltie brings him up to the house. But now Ranger (sheltie) also chases Cisco all over the yard trying to get a ball away from him. I'm also concerned about Ranger's health -- he's 11 years and Cisco is 9 mon...

One time we had a problem with our neighbor's dog barking at us all the time which is a little different than what you have.
