20 Gauge with 28 barrels. Still a light weight gun even with 28" plus the longer tubes will help keep your gun swinging on crossing shots. I bought my 20 gauge CZ Canvasback with 28" barrels as kind of a specialty, early season gun. Once I found Federal Prairie Storm this gun now covers all my hunti...

I have had some nice 12 gauge O/U and had always wanted a 20 gauge. I dint want to spend the money that it would take to get a Browning or a Beretta. Finally settled on a Canvasback and figured it would be a niche type gun, just used occasionally. It has become my go to gun for all my wing shooting ...

Re: Field Trial Question - Commands allowed?
As far as "commands" or saying stuff to your dog...do what you feel you gotta do to handle your dog to win the thing. I'd advise not looking at it as commands but rather "helping" the dog - after all, we are the brains of the operation. It's hard to argue that less is likely better when it comes to...

For all upland birds I use a 28" barreled O/U. With screw in chokes and the advances in premium ammunition there isnt anything that a 20 cant do. The 28" barrels give better balance and a little more out front weight to help the swing. Waterfowling I use a 28" semi-auto 12 gauge. The heavy gun isnt ...

With my history of GSPs and GWP I have learned that I do better with females. To me they mature faster and figure out things quicker. I like the smaller size, lighter to handle, take up less space, use smaller crates, etc. You do have the down side of them coming into season once or twice a year. Bo...

Best to be in the fall. Granted most dogs at Nationals go away with pros and can be south getting ready at winter camp, but there still are some very competitive amateurs that keep and work their dogs themselves. A spring national, especially an early spring one, makes it tough to get a dog from the...

Do you really believe if you have a gun or two you could defend yourself against a Government that wants your guns. I know there are people on here who think they could. Field Trialing is a competitive venue that gets tougher and tougher with each passing year, better dogs and more skilled handlers.
This isnt soccer for 5 year old kids where everyone gets a trophy.

Just like looking at titles on a pedigree, there is more to this equation than just a title. Look at each dog as an individual. Its life history, it's owner(s) history, where and how it achieved the titles, etc. As a big umbrella statement the FC carries more water as by earning the FC that dog has ...
