Re: The NOVA
I own a SuperNova, & it's the first one I go for. Never had an issue with the forend rattling. Maybe there's a difference between the nova & super. The super also has a different stock which helps absorb recoil. I can go a round & a half of sporting clays before noticing the recoil too much. Can't s...

Re: Benelli Super Nova
I can't speak to your height issues (I'm 5'9''), but I will speak to the Supernova. I own one, & it will probably be the last shotgun I buy for quite a while. I love it! I've taken it out for 150 + rounds @ the sporting clays course & been able to walk away with very little discomfort to show for it...

Re: Dog in Surgery
Glad to see everything is turning out ok. I had to take Zoomie in on Saturday with a badly torn pad. Went through about 1/6th of what your dog went through. They put him under "light sedation" to suture the pad, & 2 days later, he ripped 1/2 of the stitches out & the wound was infected... So we're n...

Re: A guy, a dog and some memories...
It is indeed what its all about! Nothin like watching a dog do what he was born & bred to do! I still remember Zoomie's first point on his own (not a planted bird). He was trotting along a row of trees, & all of a sudden WHAM! He turns 90 degrees on a dime & locks up like a statue!! I don't know who...

If you hit MN, the women folk could hit the Mall of America. You may need to hit a preserve that way, but I do believe there are decent bird #s around that region... Here's the Minnesota DNR website: http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/hunting/index.html Bop around the website for long enough & you'll get an...

I'm a die-hard pump man myself, for various reasons. Re: Tips on picking a new puppy
Delmar Smith said to pick the parents first, after that, its a crap shoot. I did the smart thing... I let my wife pick. That way, when he misbehaves, he's "her" dog :P Seriously, though, when we picked Zoomie, the breeder put out all the males, & told us that as soon as we eliminated one as a pick, ...

Re: e-collar and digging
I "smoked" Zoomie when he was digging under the fence to sneak out & he's never dug under the fence again! I also used wire mesh on a couple of his favorite spots in the yard... Just lay the wire mesh a little below the dirt (1/2 inch or so) & cover it. The wire mesh doesn't hurt their pads, but is ...

If its just me & my son in the ol' Jimmy, Zoomie rides loose in the back. If there are more guys, or if we're riding in somebody else's truck, he goes in the crate. Of course, if I take the wife's minivan, Zoomie goes in his crate & my boots come off before I can get in, too

Chicago PD shot a cougar running around a residential neighborhood today! Apparently they think its the same one that was spotted in a northern suburb earlier (we hope). Can't remember if there was ever a cougar sighting in this area in my lifetime. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-04-15-chi...

I did this once on accident. I went with a guy from Church who had a flushing lab. It was in no way a coordinated effort, & was kind of frustrating... Stinky
My good buddy "Stinky" crossed the Rainbow Bridge today. He was a 14 year old Vizsla we rescued 11 years ago. Sadly, he was going blind by the time I got into hunting & never knew the pleasure of a live pheasant under his nose. There was a song, by Wes Cunningham, which Stinky & I used to dance to, ...
