If you can get your dog to lay on its side, you can trace a general outline on a large piece of cardboard and cut it out. If you have multiple pieces of cardboard, you can make multiple in different colors. You could also go to a sign shop and pick up a sheet of corrugated sign material and cut out....

If you are associating the dummy throw with the shot and there's some sort of delay between the throw and the shot, I wouldn't be worried about the dog's reaction. Without watching your sequence, it sounds like there's a delayed shot and the dog is looking for an additional dummy. It sounds like you...

Not completely clear...are you using bumpers at the water? The dog doesn't need to retrieve the thrown bumper, but does need to swim at least twice. Unless you are simulating a shot bird in the field, leave the balls, bumpers and toys in the truck. If a bird is needed to encourage swimming, yes, you...

Yes, if your dog doesn't obey the commands given, it gets a little embarrassing. Beyond that, yes, it can affect your dog's cooperation score, but doesn't change your dog. The dogs don't care what they're scored in the various components; it only affects us and our egos. Doing poorly doesn't affect ...

Not sure where you live, so these suggestions may not be applicable.
Can't tell from the video, but did you use wire on the bottom? If not, have you considered predators digging under. If you have snakes, you may want to also consider some smaller wire or plastic mesh.

A few clarifying questions...
How many repetitions are you doing in one session?
At what point do the refusals start?
Are they from the beginning or after you've been at it a while?
Do you stop at a successful retrieve or do you try for "one more"?

I don't think you need a great distance between the two. I too have one. The "gun rests" are useless. If you bend over with shells in the side pockets, they fall out. Waist straps are way too long.
It is a very comfortable vest. The mesh pocket on the shoulder strap is good for an e collar transmitter.

You can easily build something using 5 6X6 dog kennel panels. Cover part of the top and a couple sides with a tarp and add a few 2X2 for perches and you've got a coop. Its easily moved in your yard and not a permanent structure.
