I have talked with some trainers that will not use the lyme shot because after taking it you can not use a lyme test to see if the dog has it, as they will alway test positive. I feed once a day, I find I can almost set a schedule by my dogs bowel movements and when traveling for hunting alot I find the one feeding at the end of the day doesn't deter from the hunt.

I will add though that the idea that dogs learn from other dogs mentality seems to be alot more prevelant in pack dogs, IE hounds and such.
