I had a discussion with a friend about the influence of the Shinback dogs, specifically Blick and Kitt.
So I am curious, what do you believe has been the impact of NFC Blick V Shinback HOF and sister FC/NAFC Ammertal's Kitt V Shinback HOF on GSPs?
I look forward to your responses. Thank you.

Proposed Greif-Von Wagger-Wasserschling-Wildburg litter
I am considering breeding two of my personal hunting dogs, Luke and Valkyrie. They are both great gun dogs and family pets. They are out of some of the finest, most well-known dogs in Shorthair history; proven performers and producers. This breeding should produce dogs that could compete on any leve...

Thank you for the lead and the advice. Let me explain my statement. All my life, my dogs have been first and foremost pets and companions. I like having the option of breeding, however, to keep myself in the type of dogs I like. I have heard several good things about Erin's. Thanks again.

I recall a gentleman that bred pointers near the West Frankfort, IL area. He had dogs bred from Herb and Bill Holmes' Gunsmoke dogs and Robert Wehle's Elhew dogs. I have lost the contact info for him that I had several years ago. I was hoping someone out there would be familiar with him, know if he ...

I was taught the King Theory of breeding which is the sire of the sire should be the grand-sire of the dam. You can also go with the dam of dam is the grand-dam of the sire. I am not opposed to half-sibling matings either. As mentioned above, the point is to double up the good and the bad. Then, kee...

4 GSPs 2 males-2 females
1 male Mastiff (to protect strangers from the GSPs!)
I have plans for two more GSPs within a year or so. Then I'll be good for awhile.

I totally agree with Stoneface. I have a few friends that are big Elhew fans. I have been around GSPs since I was two. Thanks, Vision. I had forgotten about Abe. Mayfield has some great stories about him. Don Lee's have been crossed with some Moesgaard back several generations. Others that are currently on the circuit have as well. I am not saying Moesgaard is bad, I was just looking at more pure Greif type bred dog...

I am a fan of the old Greif, Wildburg, and Wasserschling dogs. That being said, I have heard many people say that those lines are not very good on their own. One of the more popular combinations was Greif with Moesgaard. Several older western trialers have told me they had to add Moesgaard to be com...

I have always heard that the "King Theory" was the most productive method. It states that the sire of the sire should also be the grandsire of the dam, exactly like you have. There are GSP lines that have followed this for many generations with great success.
