Re: TX Snakes during Moderate Temps
Anyone still hunting in the TX panhandle in the last week or so?
Any birds still around.
Been hearing of a ice storm that may have killed a lot of the birds.
Any sightings of snakes?

Re: snake proofing
Have a friend in Big Bend in west TX and his vet will argue that.
He see hundreds of snake bites every single year on local dogs and pets. Those that have taken the vaccine come through a lot faster and easier and less medication then those that have not had the vaccine.

Hope cost comes down with the dog unit.
Just under $1K for falcon unit, and you still haft to buy a tablet, or upgrade to i phone for us old timers. Another $400-600.

Passed on from facebook.
The new Marshall GPS dog collar prototype. This collar is a combination of GPS and uhf radio telemetry, and links to your cell phone or tablet. They say it should be available for this fall.

Re: Releasing only one sex from JH to ensure Recall
Any experience with chuckars releasing one sex and not the other? I know it is more difficult to tell which sex with chuckars. I have electric callers in each JH to recall birds. Would that make any difference with one sex recalling more then another. My thought, which may be completely way off base...

Releasing only one sex from JH to ensure Recall
Releasing only one sex of Quail or Chuckar from JH to ensure Recall back to JH. I have had better success releasing Cocks Quail only. Leaving the Hens confined to the JH. Has anyone had similar success with Quail? Has anyone had any success with Chuckars by releasing only one of the sexes? Does one ...

Re: Tracking collars
The only thing to remember about the Garmin Alpha is that while it is the most practical unit from a training POV, it is not approved for AKC events. The Alpha is AKC approved if you use the newer collars like the T5 and Mini T5. These collars can be used by both the Alpha and Astro transmitters.

Has anyone done a release of 6-8 week old pheasants on their farm or training area in ND, SD or NE, to be able to work dogs on them and when season starts to let others hunt them? I used to use a site Sit Stay that you could build and then save html file and or copy you could put online or send to possible dog puppy buyers.

This aggressive biting and playing too rough is what I see when pups are not allowed to grow up around other pups and older dogs that are quick and stern with their discipline. I have seen this over and over when people get pups 5-7 wks old and raise in a one dog family. They don't know what a pecki...
