This has been an interesting post for me to read. It got me to thinking about my own 9mo GSP. I will be vigorously training him this spring :headbang: . When I let him run with some of the dogs in the neighborhood, he loves to bump them, steal the bumpers, and just harass them  . It is play...

I have to say NASTRA for me. The reason being I want to hunt my dog primarily and trial secondary. I think MH is great and I know you can hunt behind them but for getting on winged birds, which is a hunting situation, NASTRA asks for what I want. I would not turn away from a pup that has either thou...

That was good. Gave me a good laugh. If it is ok with those who posted pics, I could look into having one made. There would be some kind of money due, just the cost to print but let me talk to my sister in law's father. He would do it for free if some of the Utah guys would take him on a hunt. My Do...

Powertrip. Very nice looking, hunting dogs. All you people with all your great looking dogs make it hard on me. I like all of them. Its funny, when I first decided I wanted a hunting dog I knew more or less what I wanted. Now that I have one, I want them all. Brits, EP, Weims, GWP, all look better n...

TAK, It looks like you are trying to post a pic from your desktop. Can't be done. :x You have to have the pic on the internet somewhere, like webshots, yahoo, geosites, or here in the photo album. I had dogs but never any hunting breeds. I wanted a dog that could be inside and not make the wife have to sweep hair all day. I wanted a shorthaired dog that could swim, because I spend alot of time water skiing. I also wanted a dog that could get me in shape and that ment a runner. I had a friend ...

Ayres said it best. I would do a money order and then makes sure it clears before shipping the item. Paypal is quick but there are fees, I think around 3% of the total price, and if someone makes a complaint then money is in limbo for a long while. It is best to ask for a money order or a bank check...

I don't clip the wings of the birds I give my pup but I do let my pup get to the bird. For me it helps the dog know that the bird is nothing to be afraid of, it also helps Cash know what I want him to be going after. I have read alot about dogs that just don't like the feel of birds in thier mouths....

Calcium in chalk or Drywall
I have a 16 week old GSP from TAK and I have been "fixing" things around the house and had some drywall lying around. Cash started going to town on the scraps, eating them. He also eats the kid's sidewalk chalk. Is he not getting enough calcium? Should I get some raw bones for him to work on, maybe ...

I have a feeling that if you have a Dal that has problems with your V pup, then the Dal has problems with other Dogs as well. The Dal has a general socialization problem. A little while back in gun dog magazine, there as an article about this very thing. The dog had a mouth full of quills not nearly as bad as this dog. The article said he had the dog sedated and the vet counted 200 quills and then stopped counting, she wasn't even half done. That is too bad! Well too...

I just want to make one thing clear. I do not advocate hitting dogs with 2 x 2s. It is way too heavy handed. That is just what I saw on the AKC video. Even with my Boxer I have never had to hit him with anything more than newspaper. I just wanted to make the point that even the AKC realizes that tru...
