Re: How big is your GSP?

My GSP lady "Di" is making four in Aug and weighs on average 45#. Here at the farm she gets in 2-4 miles a day (looks like a race horse and runs like one-Lordy,she loves to run!) depending on the weather. Right now it is 95 and humid so her runs are being greatly curtailed.

Friend needs a trainer for his Drahthaar

My trainer is out of the game because of prostate cancer. My doctor has a 2 yr. old Drahthaar male that he sent off a yr ago and says he came back like he left. He needs a trainer. Any suggestions. We are located in south La. Thanks.

Re: South Louisiana Woodcock (Photos!)

Being a south La. boy you should not have had the pic of that particular smokestack in the background. I know where you where!. Just kidding as we have had more than our share of Woodcock here in my area of Pointe Coupee Parish this year. Glad you had a good time down here. Did you get enough to eat...

Had one that I gave to my best friend(moved to O/U's). Great gun-I just found that the gas system needed to be cleaned on a regular basis if shot to any degree. I had put at least 10K in skeet rounds through it when I passed it along.

Re: What type of shotgun are you using for your bird hunts?

It's not the money -it is the way it fits! I grew up in a family where you you could have any gun you wanted as long as it had "Browning" stamped on it.I have in my old age moved over to Beretta. For upland shooting I have a Beretta SP II Combo(20/28) the 20 I use on Phez and doves while the 28 is u...

Being from the south. It would have to be quail. Hunt them on Sat. and wake up Sun. morn. to the smell of quail & gravy along with my Grandma's homemade yeast rolls with fresh country butter. I was in my early teens then and now I'm 69 and the smell still lingers. What memories!

I use a Beretta SP II Combo( 20/28ga bls). The 28ga I use for quail and woodcock while the 20ga is used for dove and pheasant when I head out west. Of all my guns it is my "go to" gun!

Here in south La. the day of the wild bob is mostly over. I'm almost 69 and well remember the day when they were great in number. That is only memory. I hunt wild birds in Tx. thanks to friends and preserve birds in La. Between that and when the Woodcock migrate in my GSP lady stays busy and that's ...

Re: beep or not to beep?

My GSP lady hunts quail and woodcock. I use a TT G2 with her. For quail where it is more open I use a small swiss bell to keep track of her as much as possible and if she is on point where I can't see her I turn the beeper on long enough to lacate her. For woodcock here in south La. where it can get...

Re: Woodcock Hunt 12-27-08

I'm in Pointe Coupee Parish and the woodcock in my area have rolled out on us with this warm weather. The sloughs here at my farm have so many tree tops down in them from Gustav that you can not work your way thru them. I had to call my GSP lady off of two because I could nor even start to get in wh...

With my GSP lady who is small boned - 43# and built like a throughbred race horse. "Is that a Geyhound"? Now I just nod and keep going. As long as she finds the quail and woodcock here in south La. I don't care about the silly questions!
