We just sold a puppy to a family that their last dog was stolen early in the hunting season. If your dog is lost or stolen and it has a chip, eventually a vet or someone will scan the dog and the dog could be returned to you.

I tell buyers to sit with the puppies and let the puppies interact for a few minutes. Usually one of the puppies will show more interest in the buyer than the others. Lots and lots of praise on every retrieve. I pat my dogs and scratch their ears for about 10 seconds and make a big fuss about how good they did before taking the birds. Praise is the key to solving most problems.

Our Princess doesn't give up her birds to any other dog. We had a few incidents this year when anther dog tried to grab a bird and she just ripped right into the other dog (Golden R and other large breeds). Britts don't tolerate other dogs stealing their birds. BTW, I'm glad to see another Britt own...

A health guarantee is more important. OFA certs are good, but they are not a guarantee by any means. I do not like drugging my dogs if not necessary, so I do not insist on certs. I would rather see the parents and ideally see pics of pups from a previous litter.
