All about your dogs.
Ok so I have seen bits and pieces here and there about why some of you have Pointers, or GSPs, or Setters, or own more than one breed etc...etc...etc... My questions are why did you choose what you have? What are the characteristics about that certain breed that helps you decide to have or not have ...

Well i just put my feet down into the waters of the pointer world. I bought a young daughter of Miller's Happy Jack! I bought her to run some trials with, and see what training a pointer is all about. I have some dang nice dogs now, and a young shorthair prospect. But i got her to just give it a whi...

Well I may not be getting the point your trying to make Ezzy, so you'll have to excuse my ignorance. Re: Silver Labs...should they be recognized?
Well I just was just wondering for the fact that the LRC does not recognize the Silver Lab but the AKC does or did at one time, but caused problems with the LRC now they just say they are chocolate labs. Just seemed REALLY weird to me. I think just by looks you can tell 100% there is a weimaraner in...

Silver Labs...should they be recognized?
So I have been reading after seeing a friend interested in Silver Labs and probably going to get one. Personally I know that the DNA testing that has been done on the breed only show its parents are it parents, it does not show up as a breed specific marker. AKC recognizes them as Chocolate labs or ...

Just me saying this, and it could be dumd, as I am not a trainer, but do train some of my own dogs.....I personally would put a bird on a maypole and checkcord your dog in. If your dog isn't pointing, it could be due to overpressure. Try a little E-Collar "WHOA" work as well.

I second the the peagravel idea! Thats exactly what i did, and it works great. I just dug about 8 inches down in a 12x12 ft. square, and filled with bags of pea gravel, and it works great. I do have to clean up pea gravel around the edges though. They always knock some out.
