Re: The Wife Said No!!!!

Had a friend who named his dog Sexy Specks. He went to call the pup in from the yard and yelled "Hey Sexy" and two women out for their morning walk game him a piece of their mind. He decided to use Speck for her call name.

Re: What breed of dog would you NEVER want to own?

Smashed face dogs, most of all bug-eyed flat faced dogs. A friend had a pekanesse that's eye ball popped out while playing with their doberman. I held the dog all the way to the vet to keep it from pawing at the hanging eye. We get to there and a little boy in the waiting room wants to see the dog. ...

Serverl years ago we had one Lab that got into the trash, $600 surgery to remove blockage. Two weeks later the cat jumped off of a chair and accidentally landed on the dog when the dog jumped up it broke the cat's jaw, $400 surgery. Four weeks later the other Lab was hit by a car, $2,000 hip replace...

Re: DC/AFC Trekker V Grunbaum UDX TDX MH MX AXJ

I believe Trekker is (or was) the most titled in AKC. Not sure if anyone's passed him in there yet.

Taking in other venues I would think Fritz has to be way up there if not on top. Either way, I'm impressed.

Just a thought, but some of the rescue groups that work with the pointing breeds should probably be notified just in case he's picked up by someone and turned in to one.

Re: Female House Dog Coming into Heat?

My GSP weighs around 58 lbs. She's chewed a few pair but they're much cheaper than the doggie britches and they come in all different patterns. The Vizsla has a really cute camo pair. I buy the cheapest store brand panty liners. This is Breeze wearing hers http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff12/stl...

I tried the store bought pants and my dogs chewed them up. I now use little boys underpants with a hole cut for the tail and stick a panty liner inside. My Vizsla wears a size 4 the GSP a size 6.

Re: Too Late to socialize 6 month GSP?

We had a lab that was a kennel dog at Purina Farms until she was 8 months old. The only time she was taken out of the kennel was for vet checks and blood tests. Since there were dusk to dawn lights she was scared to death when we turned the lights off to go to bed. She spent 2 days cowering in the c...

Try adding a little cottage cheese or yogurt in with her food. It worked for a Lab we had and a friend's Britt.

Re: puppy socializing

Pups go through "fear periods", one week they're ready to take on the world the next week they're running and hiding from everything. Best thing is not to "baby them" and get them into as many new situations as possible. Something I have done with my pups is send them off to stay with a trustworthy ...

MO denied them too until one was hit by a car. The first one they said was a fluke, after the second one was hit they admitted that there are a few. In 2001 a man shot and killed a wolf that was bothering his livestock thinking it was a coyote. It had an ear tag and radio collar and found that it ha...

Re: Pheasant Fund Raiser Conundrum - Trust kids around your dog?

My dogs and I have participated in several youth and women's hunts and I find the kids to be safer and easier to work with than adults. We set it up so that there are a lot of controls in place. Fist we do an instruction and demo to let them know what to expect make sure they know their safe shootin...

Even if they handled the birds perfectly they should be getting a low score in hunting. A performance like that shouldn't pass in the junior level.
I've seen a dog get passing scores in all the other categories but fail with a 4 in hunting, and from what I saw it was justified.
