You never here about the good breedings because the puppies are all spoken for before they arrive. what have your females produced and what kind of win record do they have? Are they horseback dogs etc. Its great to start with a good pedigree, but youll get more if they have other credentials. JMO

Re: AKC/AF/AFTCA Standards

A lot of it has to do with the pattern of the a dog. A dog that yo yos in and out can probably still win in an akc stake. IN the AF version the opposite is more exceptable. A dog that searches to and moves to the front and stays to the front is more likely to win. Most of the contential AF trials ar...

Hotpepper is right on the move to mark. He is not saying it is wrong for a dog to move to mark. The rule book says that a move to mark is ok. What he is trying to tell you is that judging on this issue is highly variable, so if you want to win, it is better that a dog not move at all. You train the...

Most judges will give you a verbal que that your attempt was satisfactory. The dog should remaim staunch (high and tight thru the process), you may collar the dog immeadiately after the shot and move the dog a r...

I wouldnt do anything but road the dog during the week to keep him in condition. Do your bird work as you have in the past.He will be more energized when he hits the ground at the trial. horse work would help solve the problem longer term. Scrap the the collar process!!!

If the dog is pretty young you might want to consider taking some birds in a bag and walk your pup, when he comes by toss one or two out in front of him every other training session , that way he dosent get to catch anything and your building his interest. Let him chase as long as he wants.
