Ole' Spur looks pretty good! See you in a few weeks at the HT.
Tagging
I have an 18 month old pup who is going to run in some HTs coming up. As a 9 month old, she had some issues tagging her bracemate and not hunting on her own in the back course. I didn't put any pressure on her because she was just a pup. She was hunted on wild birds all season long and matured consi...

I've been to his seminar and if you tried to pin him down to a time table, he won't answer you. His reply, "Every dog is different." He uses the Pre-Cue, Cue training method and he stresses low level stimulation. Hickox also wants 80% compliance in the Show pups stage before using the collar. Theref...

Work on calling her off the chase. Shoot some training birds for her. Let some fly. Show her there is a difference. Ones you shoot she gets, the rest fly away. I would add that you need to be disciplined during hunting season. If she handles the wild birds exactly right...shoot them for her. If she...

Re: When to begin bird training?
To have a bold, confident pup you need to give your pup contact with birds. One way you can do this is use a locked wing pigeon. Use a confined area so she can't run off, then toss it out in front of her. Let her start handling birds. If she retreives great, but you're not working on that. She needs...
