I don't post often on the site but stop in all the time to read and learn from others. For the last year or so I've tried to stay out of this section because I didn't want to think about the day that I would have something to post here. Sammy was my first bird dog. I was 20 and still living with my ...

Re: Yildiz Shotgun
I had forgot about this thread that I started a couple of years ago. I did finally get a yildiz 12 ga. just a few weeks ago still waiting to shoot it. So far I'm impressed with how it feels and looks. The action is a little stiff but I'm sure that will break in and the ejectors throw empty shells 6-...

Re: Suggestions for a first shotgun?
One thing I haven't seen mentioned is fit. If you shotgun doesn't fit you it is miserable to try to hit anything with it. You should try to handle as many different guns as you can and find what is comfortable to you. I see that you are in TX and have an academy sports near by. They are importing an...

Re: Help finding Brittany pup
I just picked up Stella Sisu from Lakeside last Thursday. Their current litter is all sold but they are planning another for spring and they were very good to work with and although I can't say yet how she'll hunt next season she seems very smart and bold around the house so far. 2britts, how are y...

I remember a while back there was some talk about the O/U from Academy Sports. Is everyone still as happy now with the guns? My parents are down south right now avoiding all the snow. I could have them bring one back now. Just wondering if they are holding up well.

Collar Clinic might be another place for you to look. They sell reconditioned units and offer a 6 month warranty. There are also some good deals on ebay. I picked up an upland specal 2 dog unit for $225 I took a chance but it works great.

Hi Bill glad to see that you made it over here. Just wanted to let you know for reference that my girls went to the vet today and were 28 lbs each. I know it sounded like size was a concern.

Re: Most unusual cross breeds you've seen with Gun Dogs
My sister just picked up a rescue dog 1/2 beagle - 1/2 black lab. He's 5 months old weighs about 50 lbs and has short stumpy legs. I don't know but to me it just looks funny to see that big a dog with huge feet attached to short legs. They live on a farm so I'm sure he will get a chance to hunt some...

I had the same experience here where I live. It is also the time of year that alot of these are going on. They hold them outside in the parking lot of Tractor Supply a couple of times a year. I got young homers for $3 each and could have gotten as many as I needed there were about 15 different peopl...

One of my three made it yesterday. Looks like it is built pretty solid. It made it to the house about 3 hours after I had left with the girls to go run. So I didn't get a chance to take it with me out to the farm. I should get a chance to try it in the next few days.

I live in town and put a lock on my kennel. It wouldn't stop someone who wanted to take my dogs, but it does keep out the neighborhood kids. I would hate to have them open the gate to pet the dogs only to have them get loose. My borther had it happen recently with his daughters show rabbit. The kids...

griffgirl,
I had the same thing happen on friday. I'm on the Michigan-Wisconsin border. I took my girls out to camp and they came home with the bites. We did find a few ticks but they were all up around the ears not on the belly where the rings were.
