Biothane is webbing coated with flexible plastic. Great stuff! It doesn't absorb odors - even skunk if not a direct hit - you can wipe it clean, it lasts a long time, and comes in a zillion colors. There's also beta biothane, that has a matte finish and looks a bit more like leather. You can make ju...

Re: Construction noises and puppy
In general I wouldn't worry about it. Dogs need to be exposed to weird sounds and sights so they don't spend their whole lives freaked out about every new thing they hear or see. However, if there is one particular noise that has the pup shivering and cowering, I'd try to distract him; as in if he's...

Pretty much the same as Garrison here. I used the command "mat" and put them in the plastic airline kennel*. We've done similar to ckirsch, set up the silhouette around a corner or on the other side of a rise or hill. If there was help around, they'd 'handle' the silhouette and flush, then the dog's handler would heel off and the helper set the silhouette down. We had two, one a long tail and the other a s...

I think your manners training sounds good. For a house dog, it'll pay off big time.
Figure the hours spent as a companion over 13-14 years and it's so nice to have a mannerly unobnoxious dog.
Enjoy the ride with your pup, it sounds like she's a nice one.

It's easy to increase water consumption by wetting kibble with warm water. You can get it pretty soupy. Splitting the ration into morning and afternoon/evening meals gives X2 the opportunity. Why grain free? The Purina Urinary health diet has corn and corn gluten meal.
Watch out for other ingredients in grain free foods, a while back there was talk of potatoes and peas inhibiting uptake of l-carnitine which lead to major heart problems.

A dog that is barking and lunging at people needs more than a simple obedience command. The OP states that his dog is pretty good with obedience commands unless the do...
