Thanks for the tip. I definetly work on getting some remote launchers and a blank gun. Money is a big issue and I unfortunately train by myself.

Oh I'm not going to skip any gun intro steps. I wanted to get her acclamated to the the sound of a gun shot and the falling "bird". She is an amazing pup. I have some big dreams for her.

Dummy launcher/intro to gunfire

I had posted in the equipment section that I was looking for a used DT Systems dummy launcher. Well got one last night at Bass Pro. Took my 9 month old Brittany/Springer Spaniel, Abbey, out this morning and introduced her to it. I got the green (light) loads for the launcher. I have been working wit...

Re: Waterfowling with a GSP

My Brutus was 65+ lbs. He could handle the cold. I used to take out behind our church and run him in the snow. In fact he loved it. Never got the chance to waterfowl with him so I can`t say how he would have done in the cold water.

Re: Waterfowling with a GSP

Another option I was looking at would be a wirehair. My wife didn`t have a problem allergy wise with my gsp. She cleans houses and one house she clean has a lab. She comes home from cleaning sometimes and you can tell she was around the dog. I know all dogs shed to a point, but how do wirehaired poi...

Waterfowling with a GSP

After some long negotiations, my wife and I have come to an agreement. I can get another dog after the youngest is out of diapers. I lost Brutus, my GSP, almost two years ago to cancer. I love the GSP breed for alot of reasons. I`m starting into goose hunting this year. My question is how hard is it...

Been awhile

I haven`t been on the site in some time. I had to make the terrible decision to put by GSP down back around Easter. From what we (myself and 2 vets)could tell he had lymphoma of the GI tract. He had gotten sick around Christmas time and it cleared up with some meds( vet also ran $250 worth of tests)...

I took my 16 months old gsp to the vet last week after I noticed he had some fluid build up in his lower abdomen. Vet ran a full range of test from blood to stool. Nothing showed up.
