I do not know most people's protocol, but when ff my vizsla, after each training session I just play fetch with him and have fun. My dog has a pretty good fetch drive anyway, I just want it to be 100%. But I find that it really keeps his attitude up to just play with him at the end of each session. ...

talk with your trainer and see how he did things. You should be able to correct your dog once the bird flies away, NOT before the bird gets up.
He will eventually learn to give the birds enough room, but at this point you do not want him to chase. So, correct him on the chase.

you could really put down any breed, b/c it just depends on if a dog has been raised on hunting the "eastern" ruffed grouse. I say eastern b/c since I have moved out west I have found that the birds here are really stupid, almost as bad as pen raised birds. But any breed can make a really good ruffe...

that is a really tough question.
my suggestion is to find a trainer close to you that can mentor you and go with their method. You may have to visit with a few people, even if they are a couple hour drive for you, I think that it would be well worth your time.

champion foods also makes a brand called Acana that is around 33/18 and quite a bit cheaper. I have had great results with it, highly recommend it.

launchers are a great aid for training. never let the dog get right over top of the launchers, can really scare your dog. as far as setting them apart from each other, it depends. I agree, that all of the comments that question the dogs ability or the fact that he received a FC as uncalled for. It is not everyones goal or desire to send a dog off and have it campaigned all over the country to get a title. A lot of people enjoy playing this game and love going out to a weekend...

look for other kinds of groups, even other breed groups. Most people really don't care if you have different dog from them. look to find any group that you can, do not just limit your self to NAVDHA.

Both dogs stand 3 feet or so away from their dog bowls and wait to be released before they eat. Same thing when entering the house or even getting out of the kenn...
