Re: "is it possible to get muscle back that has been lost?"
The leg being atrophied is not a good enough reason to amputate the leg, there must be something more going on there. If the only problem is atrophy, then PT and strength training should get 90% or better of the muscle rebuilt. Be prepared for it to be a long term project, 18 months or more to know ...

Re: How much would you pay?
Most rescue organizations go seriously into the red with their rehoming fees. The vet visit to vaccinate, neuter and micro chip probably costs about $200. That means for a normal healthy dog they "make" $100. If the dog had been heartworm positive, they would have gone several hundred dollars in the...

You don't have to include the kennel name, if you do want to include it you much get permission from the kennel. I think the difference is in training you had Labs before. I know with my two pointing dogs, they couldn't care less if you play with them as long as they get to run and get birds. Pro Plan is a good feed. You will be looking at about 2 1/2 cups split into two feedings. I add about 1/4 can of Pedigree chicken on top of that @ both feedings as well. Some days they will finish it all and others they will not... that is normal for growth. Get him to the vet to get his rabies shot...

You have had the puppy for four days.... give him a chance to chill out and get to feel like it is home. He may be in a bit of a fear stage and most likely he doesn;t have a clue what is going on in his world. talk to your breeder, but chances are everything is fine.

DO NOT SPAY before 1st heat and if possible wait until after the second one. DO NOT let your vet pressure you into spaying early. There is much growing to be done that requires hormones to regulate and spaying can cause urinary tract leakage problems.

from a structural standpoint, what you see at 8 weeks is pretty much what you will see when they are grown up. They tend to grow unevenly and at 8 weeks the are pretty much in-sync for a short time. It is much better socially to let them stay with the litter until at least 8 weeks.
