Yeah, it's a trap to catch wild birds.
Getting it on a platform off the ground seems like the best idea. Thanks!

Rats getting into pigeon trap
Hi there so I had a pigeon trap that was working quite well until rats got into it and killed the pigeons I trapped. I then moved to have quarter inch by quarter inch mesh installed all around the trap which then prevented or deterred birds from entering the trap. The doors on the trap are one of th...

Re: When to let baby pigeons to fly out freely
I believe I had mentioned it once before, but I had one of my favorite birds who didn’t return from a training flight. I can’t recall how far the release was, I believe it was a shorter one, maybe 10 miles. At the time they were regularly returning from 30-40 miles. 5 days later I was driving home ...

Re: When to let baby pigeons to fly out freely
At what age do you start taking the pigeon out and training it to home? Or, how long after you let it fly out freely do you start the homing training?

Train 6m Puppy to Steady to Flush or Let Chase?
Hi there
I'm curious if I should let my 6.5 month old puppy chase my launched pigeons or if I should train it to be steady to flush now.
In my head, I can see the merits of either path. Curious if there is consensus on the best path.
Thanks!

When to let baby pigeons to fly out freely
Hi there
My pigeons are about a month old now.
I'm wondering when I should open up the loft and let them fly out freely. Now? 6 weeks?
Is there any advice?
I really don't want to lose these birds though I want them to be strong fliers and to return home.
Thanks!

I Just Got My First Pigeons for my First Gun Dog
So I got the pigeons. Basically I have them prisoners. My unspoken agreement with them is: I have rescued you from a literal ........ where you could only fly in a small room, packed in with other birds. Now I have put you into a smaller pen, albeit a cleaner one. To get the privilege to fly the ski...

Has anybody used this item?

Any thoughts about it compared with a typical dummy launcher?
Thanks!

Re: Vest for Every Day Training and Upland Hunting
I have several vests, the Orvis waxed cotton strap vest is my go to 99% of the time. No hunter orange to draw attention, stays cool because the bird pouch is heavy duty mesh, it holds two water bottles in side pouches so they don’t tip and you don’t have to fish for them. I put my blank pistol hols...

Vest for Every Day Training and Upland Hunting
Hi there Brand new to all this. Getting a puppy soon. Looking to get your advice on a vest that I could use every day for training - from general obedience to gun dog stuff - and that I could use for upland hunting. Does such a thing exist? If possible, I don't want to look too hardcore in the park....
