Underground fence thoughts
I have a 1 year old GWP. He and my 10 year old Choc Lab took off this past weekend and were gone for over a day. Luckily someone found them over 8 miles away. We keep the GWP in a pen during the day when we are at work and when we get home we typically let him out and he plays around the house. My w...

Re: Ramset .22 primer blanks
Training has been flawless. For those who are on the fence, I would definitely recommend this route if you already have .22 pistols and would rather save on blanks.

Re: Ramset .22 primer blanks
The #2 Ramset loads(brown box) are what you need. The #3 and #4 loads are more powerful and louder. I suspect that since you are using an actual .22 you will be fine with any type of blank, but some of the cheaper blank guns may not handle the stresses of the high power ramset loads. I use #2 Ramse...

Re: Ramset .22 primer blanks
The Green and Yellow have a tendency to expand at the crimp when fired. This makes them hard to eject from the cylinder of my bank pistol. I prefer the Brown loads but also reload 20ga. blanks with varying load charges. cr Thanks. Exactly what I needed to know. I don’t have any blanks so I was hopi...

Ramset .22 primer blanks
Looking to start Perfection Kennels gun acclimation. I have some of the Ramset (green & yellow) primers i bought from Home Depot. I dont have a “blank training pistol”…I have plenty of .22 revolvers and semi auto pistols. Am I ok to shoot these out of a standard pistol? I just want to make sure thes...

Re: Alpha t100 system
It looks like the transmitter only for the 550 Plus is $399, and the transmitter and collar for the 550 is $399 as well. I have looked at the Alpha 70, and it is $100 cheaper, but appears it has less levels of stim intensity. Maybe this will be better suited for me? It sounds simpler. Decisions, Dec...

Re: Alpha t100 system
Is there a transmitter (like the 550) that is compatible with the Alpha 100 collar? Yes, the Pro 550 Plus transmitter is compatible with the tt15 collar. The Pro550 Plus transmitter provides basic Direction and Distance with no tracking features. If Tracking is needed the Pro550 Plus can be paired ...

Re: Alpha t100 system
I have the alpha100 and it isn't the best training tool but it is so flexible I can make it work for my needs. Most issues I've seen are operator error. In normal mode when a training button is pushed the intensity levels for the collar selected are displayed. After a short delay the screen will fl...

Alpha t100 system
I bought a new Alpha t100 bundle 3-4 months ago for my GWP. Have not taken it out of the box. I am just starting Perfection Kennels PS program. Jon really stresses the need for perfectly timed stimulation. I know he uses a different stim set up, but for those with the t100 can I get by with using th...

22 ammo blanks
I am trying to find some 22 caliber blank ammo for a pistol. Have never bought blank ammo before. It seems everything I see online is for dummy launchers? Are they one in the same? One description said they were not. I have a standard 22 caliber revolver pistol. Can someone point me in the right dir...

Manual bird launcher?
So i have been looking for remote bird launchers but everywhere is out. GDS told me they dont expect any in until late December. The only ones i have found are manual from LCS. There is a pull cord on them. I am about to start PS/PF training program. Will this get me by in a pinch? Obviously i would...

Re: What's your favorite bird dog training program?
I am in a similar situation so I cant offer any advice as far as experience, but i recently ordered the Perfect Start/Perfect Finish dvd series for my GWP and I am really excited about it. I have not started using it yet, just have watched it a few times. I scoured the internet for DVD's and I am no...

Re: Perfect Start/Perfect Finish training
I am only familiar with the older ones but I assume they are similar. I liked them and the system worked well. They do require lots of birds and a helper.......Cj I assume it is the same? The dvd i have looks like it was shot in the 90’s by a 3rd grader. I could care less about the quality. Jon is ...

Re: Perfect Start/Perfect Finish training
After reading all of the feedback on this site while searching thr PS/PF program…I’m surprised no one has commented? Either way, I am brand new at this and was curious to other peoples experiences when using this program. I contacted Perfection Kennels and they are going to answer some of my questio...

Perfect Start/Perfect Finish training
I just ordered the Perfect Start training dvd for my 10 week old GWP. I have watched it and really like it a lot. This is the first dog I will have trained. I was wondering if there is anyone here who has completed this training series of PS/PF who would not mind if I bounced some questions off of y...

Re: How often to hunt wild coveys
You’re not going to put them in as much danger than a coyote, fox, bobcat, hawk, owl, etc. They will be fine. I have jumped up coveys at my place in at least 6 different spots in the last 6 months or so. When my GWP gets ready we are going after them. *sorry. i did not realize there was a time limit...
