Karen - One thing comes to mind. Around here, they sometimes plant birds for puppy stakes in AKC. That drives me nuts. About he last thing I need is for my youngster to be out there rousting birds, catching birds and all of that, while I cannot do anything about it in the way of discipline. In AF s...

This is a good, reliable collar for a beginner.

I use a great trainer in SC. One of my dogs is there now. I wasn't happy with what I found here in FL. I also joined GMHT Hunt Club in Lake Wales and train there weekly with my other dog.
Come out and train with us one day. PM me if you want more info.

Any pet of mine that killed another pet of mine would probably be looking for a new home very quickly. As far as I am concerned, any dog that lives in my house had better learn not to harass, harm or kill my pet house cat. No more than they are allowed to harass, harm or eat my furniture, shoes, an...

Maybe the tail set wasn't such a big deal. Maybe the judge just liked the other dog(s) better. Did the judge make any comments?
Jolee has a low tail set, but some judges didn't mind that as much as poor rear angulation, etc.

I feel bad about crating my dogs for more than a few hours at a time so I take them to daycare 2-3 times weekly. It not only keeps them excercised and conditioned, but it greatly improves theier social skills around other dogs and people. Yes it does cost, but I can imagine it is no more expensive t...

Just curious as to what method you have employed to get your dog steady to wing since it is so young. Did you use an ecollar or just the cc?

Re: Hawk Problem with Homers any tips?
I had a hawk try and snatch one out of the air two days ago. I was in the process of kicking a few young birds out of the loft to fly when it happened. I had just shooed them off the roof of the loft when the hawk swooped down. Luckily, I ran towards the hawk and it dropped the bird. The hawk then f...

The flew out of sight the other day, but then sat of the neighbors roof for about 5-10 minutes before trapping. Today, they did some fine acrobats overhead for about 2-3 minutes (but not out of sight), then trapped quickly anticipating feeding time.

WiskeyJaR, You just have to find the combination of tools and tchniques that work for you and your dog.
