Re: Gunner Kennels
I have both the Ruff Land and Gunner intermediate kennels. I highly recommend the Gunner over the Ruff Land if you can afford it. It's on a different level build wise and I enjoy the peace of mind knowing my dogs safe if something were to happen. My 57lb GSP fits in the intermediate perfectly. Overa...

Re: Bicep tendonitis
Can you split the difference and give the dog 10 days off and see how it goes? If he seems painful after that, I'd put him up for a longer while. That’s what I’m going to do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Just be careful when reevaluating the dog after 10 days. You could easily set him back an...

Re: Bicep tendonitis
I don't think your dog is going to go from in shape to completely out of shape in 3 weeks. Personally, I would rest the dog but to each their own. With that said, I would never recommend going against your vets advice. If the vet said let him hunt, then by all means who are we to argue?

Re: Grey Wolf
Pretty interesting debate but i haven't seen hard evidence supporting either claim. With that said, that doesn't mean it doesnt exist... I just haven't seen it. My only concern is the fact that I saw someone mention that studies should be ignored due to bias. You really have to be careful with this ...

I'm not sure you'll get much of a response when asking what the hunting conditions of a specific area are.

Re: Anyone using the newest Garmin?
I saw it but haven't tried it yet. I have the 100 and the Pro 550+ and I don't think I ever use the 100. It's just not quite there design wise for me to use it in the field hunting wild birds on public land. The Pro 550+ is perfect thought I do wish it was a bit shorter but that's just me nit pickin...

Re: winter has come way too early
I believe the issue here is you mentioned hunting in a blizzard and some folks are taking it literally (can't blame them). Looking at the picture it does look like heavy snowfall but it seems to be going straight down. I've hunted in those same conditions and I enjoy it. Add in heavy wind and I'm ou...

I tend to agree. Great photo but the editing is a bit too much.smilinicon wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 2:36 pmI see you enjoy photography. Your photo's are over-saturated in contrast and color.
Have a good day.

Dog chasing running birds
I have a GSP going into his 2nd season pheasant hunting and it's impossible to get him to stop chasing a running pheasant. I know young dogs will bump birds but I don't want him chasing a bird into a highway if we are near one. The last thing I want to do is use the Ecollar when he's on birds and he...

Very large GSP
I know someone who is wanting a very large GSP so I figured I'd see if anyone has any information that could be helpful. I know the breed standard has the high end of 70lb but this person is looking for a GSP that is going to weigh 85+ lbs. I can't find any kennels who breed large GSPs and I'm not e...

Re: Cracked foot pad
I had success using TUF-FOOT spray on the dogs pads to help toughen them up. There's also Mushers Secret and its a cream that you can put on the pads to help as well.
My GSP ended up with a small cut on its pad last year and the Mushers Secret helped a lot for discomfort and keeping it clean.

If only there were an answer to this. You'll get a good dog as long as you've picked a good bloodline. There is no magical formula for picking the "best" puppy. Go with your gut!

Re: rediscovered the Gun Dog Forum
First let me say, I hate Microsoft products, but I use Windows so I'm stuck with it. I had been a user of Firefox but MS made it so onerous to try to use that browser that I was forced to Explorer/Edge. One of the last MS updates has really messed up a number of things on my older laptop, so I went...

Insulated Kennels
I just purchased a Gunner G1 Intermediate for my GSP and am wondering when everyone feels an insulated cover like Mud Rivers is needed. I had one on my Ruff Land kennel but I'm not convinced it wasn't overkill. What are your thoughts? How cold is too cold without an insulated cover?
