Re: Bumping Woodcock
Thank y’all for the replies! I will admit, part of it is getting the prize. I’ll have to refrain from shooting them. However, most of it is for the dog because I know she enjoys it. She loves being out in the woods, running free and finding game. That’s 90% of my satisfaction. I just found it odd th...

Re: GSP used to full potential
I use mine as a pet, bird dog, and track deer and hogs.
She does great! She just doesn’t bark or indicate that she has found a downed deer or hog unless it’s still alive.

Once we got to an open area free of traffic, I’d let her run free for about 5 minutes. That would get th...

Re: I Just Got My First Pigeons for my First Gun Dog
Good luck!
As said above, make sure they raise their young before letting them go. I lost a couple pair of little ones like that.
Also, I’m sure you have a limit on how many birds you want, but keep a few extra because you will lose some!

Bumping Woodcock
Hello everyone! I’m hoping I can get some insight and tips on my 3 year old GSP and pointing woodcock. I live in south Louisiana, so our wild upland birds are limited to woodcock and snipe. My GSP will point pen raised quail to flush and retrieves them. She’s my first bird dog and to me, I think she...
