Thanks AverageGuy. Very helpful. I’ll work on the basics over the next few months. I like your barrier for retrieving, I’ll have to make one. It was fun to see how excited my pup got when introduced to his first bird. I certainly don’t have to worry about his enthusiasm.

There's a guy around here that has a side business blood trailing with his two Boykins. Not sure if he braces them when he goes on a trail or uses one at a time. I would add that it's never a bad time to shape a dog's behavior. For example, a young pup needs to learn that coming to the boss is a good thing.
