As Garrison said your priorities are all squared up I think you'll be happy with the 550, tho I believe you should be able to get set up for way less than $1K. You can use the savings on all the other cascading expenses you'll need to spend bird dog money on

When using vet wrap to avoid chafing beneath a boot do you just tape the upper part where the boot top is taped to the lower leg or the entire foot? Also - any chafing issues with using cordura boots in crusty snow where feet eventually get wet? Thanks!
