Tom, Don't worry about not having treelines down here. The dogs learn to run lines and take edges in our terrain by running ridges, ditches, draws, dry creekbeds, etc. If the dog has any brains at all, it will make the transition quickly.

I have the bobwhite in both 20 and 28 gauges. I love them... especially the 28ga. I hunted with mine so much that there is no case coloring left on the receiver. It's probably accounted for a couple hundred pheasants and several hundred quail over the past six or seven years. I rarely carry anything...

I'm all for accommodating handicapped handlers, but I'm scared of the potential abuses. I hope this doesn't go the way of the old NBHA years ago when many of the pros started handling from horseback in their walking stakes.

Keep a close watch on her eye Tom. I've had a half dozen dogs bit by rattlesnakes over the years, and the only one I had trouble with was one where about a week later the dog's eye started rotting out of the socket. It was one of the nastiest things I've ever seen.

Tommy, You'd be surprised how many of those dogs are specialists that don't hunt wild birds. I know of several very competitive tournament dogs in our area that stay home when their owners go wild bird hunting.

I think the solid and roan dogs look better than the white ones. However, since my old chief dog died, I don't even own a roan anymore, let alone a solid colored one. The main reason is the heat tolerance issue.
