Re: Awful breath
I think staining is more often caused by fever when young before the teeth emerged in the old old days, it was a good sign, as it meant the dog had survived distemper and this was immune to it. Pre-vaccine, 50% of all dogs died of distemper or were permanently marred before one year of age. You got...

Definitely talk with your vet about how many they have done and how comfortable they are in getting the proper views. . . .this is imperative! Poor technique will skew the results and cause an inaccurate reading. OFA is the widely accepted form for certifying hips (and elbows, etc.). Most vets are c...

It sounds like you might have two problems...the excitement urination and the excessive urination. For the former, try very little interaction with the dog at the most likely times for him to get worked up. No talk, no touch, no eye contact and don't let him get wound up in the house. For the exces...

It may depend on the cause of the low thyroid function. If it’s simple sluggishness you might see response fairly quickly but if it’s a case of something Hashi’s, where there are anti- thyroid antibodies floating around, might take several momths. Question: What size bumper (generally speaking, I know there are variations) is best to start with? I ordered some, but they seem to be huge. My dog typically has a good "take" but is balking at these, and I think it's because of the size. He's an 18 month old golden retriever. Thanks!

"All stages" foods aren't necessarily great for all dogs. They have to formulate them to provide the nutrients and energy that the type of dog with the highest requirements needs.
