Re: Summer heat and dog transport

I appreciate it! My rough land kennel also fits in the cab of the truck in the backseat, so worst case scenario I can just slide it in the cab if it gets warm. I prefer to keep him in the bed though, as he is not always the most patient passenger, and I can keep the inside of the truck a lot cleaner...

Summer heat and dog transport

Hey all, I was hoping to get some advice. With the heat of the summer starting to ramp up here in Ohio, it been quite warm. Re: Transporting dog in truck bed

This morning it was 6 degrees out and he seemed to do well in the kennel! I would like to try and figure out a way to make a roof/cover for it in case of heavy rain, as I would rather not have to drag the kennel in and out of the truck every time rain is in the forecast. I did coat the outside of th...

Re: Transporting dog in truck bed

Part of the reason I would like to try the kennel in the bed idea is because while he is a great bird hunter, he had quite the taste for fur to include skunks. Also, when I have his kennel in the truck bed, I lose my whole back seat, so I have no storage for guns, gear etc. Also, since the kennel ha...

Transporting dog in truck bed

Hey guys, I have a 2 year old GSP, and he has always ridden in the back seat of my truck (crew cab dodge ram) in a ruff tuff kennel. Hi guys, just got done with a hunt with my yard old GSP. I was giving him a check after we got home, and I noticed these bumps/rash on his right year. Compared to his left ear, it is noticeable. One thing that seemed to help me was to throw a shirt that I had wore with my smell on it in the crate, and taking a metal water bottle and filling it with warm water. When my GSP did this, it was kennel cough. It sounds like a duck when they are wheezing. Mine was vaccinated, but since kennel cough is like the common cold for dog, their are many strains and the vaccine may not cover it
