Re: Montana advice needed

If you do not have to schedule your trip in advance, watch the weather and make a decision. Last year the first week of Sept. barley got out of the 60's all week. Then for the next 2 weeks it was in the 90's.

Trust me this will be the start of an addiction. I am already dreaming of MT.

Re: Need New Dog Food

ezzy333, I do agree with you that wolves and coyotes do eat the stomach contents of there prey, which is a very small percentage of the overall animal being consumed. On the other hand I have never seen a corn or wheat field where I hunt elk and deer. Grass yes, so maybe this explains why dogs like ...

Re: Need New Dog Food

Submariner, I have been feeding Evo for over 2 years with great results. I have tried other foods but what I have found is with the Evo they consume less volume but maintain weight better and there stools are smaller and firmer. I took Jake to his first field trial last year and everyone kept commen...

Re: cracked pads need help please!!!

I had the same problem with my GSP. I bought a product called Protecta Pad by Tomlyn Products. I applied it every night for about 2 weeks and it worked great. I am now applying it a couple times a week. This product seems to be a very effective moisturizer without the harmful and toxic smelling prod...

Re: any side by side owners??

I have three sxs guns. A CZ Ringneck 20ga, an Uggie LCS Grade I 20ga and an Uggie Exell Arms model 221 12ga. I used the CZ exclusively the past 2 years, and just recently bought the 2 Uggies. I recently sold my Beretta Silver Mallard that I loved until I started shooting a sxs. Once you get one you ...

Re: Best Side X Side

I have used a CZ for the past two seasons that I paid $750. I thought it was a great gun until I purchased a used Uggie for the same price. The Uggie is lighter, slimmer, handles, points and swings much better than the CZ.

I have a CZ Ringneck in 20 ga. I bought it last Oct. and am very pleased with it. It points well and I can shoot pretty well with it. I have not had any problems with it including hard trigger pull. I paid $750 and I think it is absolutely the best gun for the money. This is my first double and I am...

Thanks for the info guys. I do plan to hunt "blues" in the Steamboat area in Sept. Are there any within a two hour drive of Broomfield? What about sage grouse or any of the other upland birds?

Chucker/Ptarmigan hunting in Colorado?

Anybody hunt wild chucker and or ptarmigan in CO? If so where? I have a 1 year old GSP and would love to get him on some wild birds in Sept. I am also looking for people to hunt with.

I like the nostalgia of the SxS, and they just come up and point so nice.

I love hunting any bird, but I feel the ruffed grouse is the most challenging. I have only hunted them with a dog once but I am planning to hunt them this year with my now 7 mo. old GSP. I can tell you without a dog they are vurtually impossible.

I started with a 20 when I was a kid and did very well with it, about 10 years ago I bought a 12 Berreta 390 and really like it, last year I bought a CZ RN 20, and I have not had the berreta out since. I like a light gun when I have to carry it all day.

I shoot a 20ga. and do not see a need for anything larger for upland birds. I have a 12ga but I have not had it out since I got the 20.

I bought a CZ Ringneck 20ga. last Oct. for $750 at Sportsmans. This is my first side by side and I really like it. I have looked at others in this price range and higher and the quality just did not seem as good. I suggest you look around and I bet you can find one for a reasonable price.
