Re: Want to get dog in shape!?!? Try this bike attachment.

They have another version on Amazon called the "walkey dog" or something like that. It's $30 which is significantly less than the version you listed and appears to be the same idea.

Good luck!

Re: Training rewards (treats)

You posted the web site as a reference . I read it . It says nothing about training with treats. So what is your point? I also said competitive formats referring to trialing, not hunt tests. I am simple pointing out that the folks that are breaking gundogs for the competetive formats are not traini...

Re: Pup help (long post)

laxhky4 - I'm in the same boat with our 8 week old GSP. I know EXACTLY the kind of behavior (nipping) that you are talking about and I'll share what has worked very, very well for me (so far) with our boy Hogan. Again, I'm far from an expert but I read this in one of the many books I've gone through...

Re: Pups

Congrats! My pup is about the same age (born 4/25) and will be coming home a little later in June. The litter we are choosing from (2nd for either male or female) is all brown and white. Getting mine from Top Gun in Iowa, but Willow Creek was right there too when we were looking for a breeder. THe H...

Re: Few pics from yesterday

June is looking great - beautiful dog!

My pup was born at the end of April, so around the end of June or beginning of July he/she should be coming home. 9 pups in the litter, 2 female and 7 male. I'm #2 on the list for either.

Re: any one interested- shot gun primers

Not sure if this is covered under the same laws as ammo (like shotgus shells, rifel shells, etc.) but Federal Firearms Licensed dealers cannot return ammo once it's left the store - it's a safety thing. The fear is that some nut will bring back reloads or spike a shell with pistol powder and then re...

Congrats - great looking pup!

I'm getting a new GSP pup too (end of June). I'll be looking to join the St. Croix chapter as well, there are some really nice folks that are a part of that group.

Re: Feedback on 3 Midwest GSP Breeders

Yes, just like that! :) Scott Scott, I was on the list last year for a Higgins/Echo pup- but then Higgins came down with a prostate infection and the breeding was put off. I wound up with a pup from Ace/Hemi and couldn't be happier. Good luck with your Top Gun pup- either breeding, you won't be diss...

Re: Feedback on 3 Midwest GSP Breeders

95% sure it will be out of the Higgins x Peaches litter. This was a AI breeding as Higgins is retired. 5% chance I'll have an opportunity to get a Higgins x Echo pup, it's possible but not likely. This litter is ~ 3 weeks earlier and is pretty well booked. I'll be happy with either, I'm kinda partia...

Re: Feedback on 3 Midwest GSP Breeders

Update: I went to Pheasant Fest this past weekend and had a great time. Was able to spend some time talking to a few different breeders including Top Gun and Willow Creek. Both great breeders, lots of great info and it was good to be able to shake their hand and look them in the eye. :) I have put d...

Re: Feedback on 3 Midwest GSP Breeders

Rob - Katy is absolutely gorgeous - I love the solid liver head! I really haven't heard a bad word about any of the three, but I must say that people *almost* gush when they talk about Top Gun and Steve Ries. I spoke with him on the phone after a few e-mails and he seems very nice and offers some ni...

Feedback on 3 Midwest GSP Breeders

Hi - Looking for a new GSP pup this Spring and have talked with both Top Gun in Iowa (Steve Ries), Sharp Shooters in WI (Clyde and Marilyn Vetter) and Willow Creek (Chad and Jodi Hines). I'd love whatever feedback people have to offer - I like all 3 of them. My goals: Great family dog that is a good...

GSP vs. GWP or Griffon

Thanks for the input Windyhills. I haven't ruled out a GWP or Griffon, I really like the looks of the GSP by comparison. Again, not a shot against anyone's favorite breed, just my personal preference at this time. I'm really targeting next spring - that should give me ample time to finalize the bree...

Welcome! Chaingang and Wagonmaster can give you the 411 on the MN area. Much as I love my GSP, I would be remiss if I didn't tell you to take a look at the GWPs bred by the guy that handles my dog in field trials. He's just over the state line in WI from the Twin Cities. There are two or three Nati...

New member in MN - no gun dog (yet)

Hello! I've been "lurking" for a while, decided I should register. I don't have a gun dog at this time, but hope to aquire a pup in the next year. We've got our third child on the way this summer (July) so I don't think now is the time to add more commotion around the house. :) My other two kids (bo...
