Re: Fat supplement

Raw animal fat is the best source of energy for the dog. Moderate amounts of fat are very beneficial for the dog under exertion especially in hot weather. If the dog is not under regular exertion the fat in your current feed is probably plenty. Pork and beef trimmings can be easily sourced from a bu...

I'm no expert.........Once the birds are used to trapping in, take them a 1/8 mile away before feeding and release them all- go to coop and feed. You can progress from there, once you reach a mile or so, start taking them in 1 mile increments to your training grounds. Once there, you can hit the oth...

I hate the idea of an 8 month old pup blinking birds. Shut up, let'm flush/chase if that's what it takes for pup to regain her confidence.

One thing to consider if you think you'll be done with launchers in short order- the easiest dog training item to sell is used electronic launchers. Start scouring the various boards, ebay etc. you might find a couple.

Another option is to join a club or NAVHDA chapter, most have equipment to share.

First things first, you must abide possession limits (usually 2x the daily limit). Sounds like you are well on your way to having a first rate flushing dog. Nothing wrong with rabbits, just make him remain steady. Taking out preserve birds isn't the bird's fault, it's yours.

Allowing the dog to be successful at whatever he chooses, is all the reinforcement he needs.
