Stomach Rash\allergy
Hey everyone, My dog goes on regular runs in the field and the past couple of times we went out she has broken out with a bunch of little red bumps on her stomach. About an hour after the run her stomach is full of little bumps. We had the vet look at them and they confirmed it was an allergy and ga...

Re: retrieving question for my pointer
mnaj - The trip is in a week, and that makes sense that she probably doesn't understand why we are going inside. I will give your idea a try on petting her when she comes back to me.

retrieving question for my pointer
Hi Everyone, My Brittany just got back from 5 weeks of training in North Dakota where she received a ton of exposure to wild pheasants, huns, and sharptails. She is a little over a year old and the trainer said she did a fantastic job on the trip. One of my annual family trips to a game far is comin...

I have the TEK 1.0 track only and am happy.
Sportdog also has great customer service (replaced my Shock collar remote at no charge).

Re: trainer for the casual hunter
To answer your question; Yes, these trainers exist. I am new to training pointers but what I have heard is, without birds, you don't have a bird dog, and that is the big reason I will be sending my dog to a trainer this summer. My Britt will be a little over a year old this coming July which is when...

A dogs Range
Does anyone "control" their dogs range depending on the type of animal they are hunting? Example: if you are hunting an open field for pheasants letting the dog range out further compared to, if you are hunting woods for Grouse and reeling them in a bit. How does everyone get their dog to work at di...

Re: Feeding dog
I feel it's important to get the dog in a routine from the start so I feed my Britt once in the morning and once in the evening, about a cup and a half each time. I feed her Purina Pro Plan.
What Kind of dog are you getting?

Re: Breaking a bad habit
Thanks Everyone for the info, it sounds like I need to be tougher on my Britt. This is the first dog I have had the opportunity to train and I am constantly questioning how much pressure is to much pressuer. I have watched a couple videos on how to use a whoa post but was wondering if you guys had a...

Breaking a bad habit
My eight month old brittany's terrible habit is chewing/biting at her check chord at the beginning of every training session. She will run around the fenced in back yard all proud to be carrying her check chord in her mouth for about 5 minutes or so until she calms down and that is when we usually b...

MN trainer recommendations and what age
Two questions
1)Has anyone sent there dog off to a trainer in Minnesota? If so, where and would you send your dog back?
2) At what age do you recommend sending your dog away for training?

when is the right time to get a second puppy?
How far apart in age does everyone like their dogs to be before getting another? My wife and I have a 7 month old Brittany and are tossing around the idea of getting a second Britt this summer. What's everyone's opinion on having two dogs this close in age? What are some negatives and positives to g...

Re: Pups Ecollar experience in the field
Thanks everyone for the great advice. I knew she wasn't going to be anywhere close to a finished dog but I was dying to see what she could do in the field (I need to be more patient and I know that now). I have a GPS tracking collar for my pup but unfortunately it decide to malfunction the day of th...

Pups Ecollar experience in the field
Hi Everyone, My wife and I brought home our newest family member, a Brittany. Our Brittany (Beasley) is 6 months old and is a fantastic family member and has an excellent nose on her. Since this is our first puppy I was very eager to introduce her to as much as possible quickly as possible and she s...
