Shy Dog and pigeons
So I have a question that's going to get mixed responses but I am curious to hear from some more seasoned members. I am thinking about adding a puppy to the kennel and that desire lured me into a great conversation with a new breeder. So here is my multi-part question. Go into this assuming everythi...

Re: DIY Trips
I travel once or twice a year with hunting dogs long distance (2 days or more travel time). Here's some things I have learned. Bring stake outs for each dog especially if you're headed to a new situation or there will be lots of other dogs or people you don't know. Bring a crate or box of some type...

Re: Pigeons in cold weather
Good Post. I've been curious about the windows. Its extremely cold where I live and I built my small loft with no windows at all. Just the screen bottom for ventilation. This is my first run at pigeons so once I get a few squeakers I want to put a door in but wasn't sure. All you read about is avoid...

It happens in every forum imaginable. I'm a fly fishing guide by trade and very active in the internet forums. Thanks guys, all good things to think about especially in the resource department. But I don't think I wrote my question as clearly as I would like. Better yet build the first one 4x8x8. Split it into 2 parts both 4x4x8 with 2x4 welded wire dividing them so you can split up the cocks and hens. Then they can sit near each other and reach through to preen each other. Then build a 4x4x8 for the young. Only raise young when you need shooters. And y...

Nesting Boxes
So I started building a small pigeon loft for 10-12 birds. I'm winging it as I go, I am not using plans or anything like that which I know complicates things. For now I have left the side off because I think I want to put external nesting boxes in to save space. The whole thing is only 3ft square so...

I feel like 120 yards isn't far. Granted, my pup is a little older but we go ten times that distance every day. You just have to keep an eye on him and be constantly monitoring his responses.

It makes sense but it leads me to question why a lot of people feed high protein during hunting season and regular food during the off season. Seems like it should be the other way around. You want to go into the season with a well built dog and maintain it throughout that hunting season by keeping ...

I have used one becomes it gives me a sense of security. I know that in an emergency, I can stop my dog if I need to at a distance. I.E. a road, chasing a deer etc. However, even using it for this reason they need to be conditioned properly. You don't just turn it up and fry the dog
