this is the sire to my old boy. It really doesn't matter to me- but I do not see Kellogg in the blood line. Are you saying it is there? Just trying to figure out the bloodlines

Re: Pointing Lab Popularity

Here is what I have as personal experience. I purchased a PL from Hunters Point Kennel in 1998. The sire and dam were both titled in APLA as well as in AKC and UKC. The dog was flat out a monster on pheasants. I also hunted quail, grouse and woodcock in the uplands and shot goose and ducks as well....

Re: Flusher or pointer

Where I hunt the bush is thick and nasty so I prefer a flusher - I too have a cocker. But I can appreciate most any type of working/hunting dog.... I just got in from spending a week with the beagles chasing deer. As much as I love bird dogs, nothing quite makes the hair on the back of my neck stan...

Re: Anyone send their pup to training? In MICHIGAN

Did you ever check out colonial farms right in your home town? they breed GSPs and offer training on the preserve they run.... might not be what you are looking for though

Re: What really matters with a pup?

I agree with above. Perhaps if you provided what breed you are looking at and where you are located some suggestions on breeders could be helpful for you.

Last woodcock of 2015

Well this was the last woodcock of 2015 for my pup. Going to miss throwing the dog in and shotgun in the truck and being in birds in 20 minutes.

Sunday Woodcock

I was able to get my pup out for a quick hunt this afternoon. Olaf did a great job on this woodcock tracking it and pinning it down with a nice point. Probably the last doodle of this year. I think Olaf learned a lot on these little birds this year. We will concentrate on grouse from here on out and...

Re: Garmin Alpha advice

I have the Alpha and have two collars. Pretty awesome tool for pointing dogs. One of my collars lost communication with the handheld last hunt. Had to add it again to dog list... Seemed fine afterward though.

Re: Dogtra or Garmin?

I have owned three dogtra collars. All have been awesome collars and performed very well. I would not hesitate to buy another. I recently purchased the Alpha TT15 and it seems to be nice. Lots of gadgets on it though and so far not as useful as a training collar has my Dogtra's because of the size.....
