I read earlier in the thread about how much one moment of losing your cool can do to your efforts. I have been VERY careful not to do that and my little guy is coming along nicely. thought i would get this one rolling again...a few things i would like to add over my years that i see hinders a good huntin dog. 1) Don't over command/correct (as others said, keep your mouth shut) 2) be very careful how you discipline and reward certain situations as to not give the wrong impressi...

I'm hoping someone will tell me why dogs dont like to enter tumbleweed patches ? I've never seen tumbleweed and never expect to here in Scotland. Is it prickly ? Well i suck! I let my dog down. She was a little scatterbrained at first, then she settled in and gave me 7 solid points. I missed 5 out of 7. On top of that i could only find one (actually she found it). I guess i need more work behind the shotgun. But she did great and probably thinks im a fool. ...

i may have explained it wrong I did not fire my gun while standing over him!! He was heeled beside me back behind the gun just like in training. He was introduced to gun fire in a large field while retrieving a bumper the shooter started about 50 yards away with caps then he worked closer and close...
