Re: Ithaca SKB model 500
I had one exactly like it that I bought used back in the mid 70's. It was a beautiful gun with 30" barrels choked Mod/Full. The gun seemed to fit me fine but I just could not hit the "broadside of a barn" with it and sold it a number of years later. I think I paid somewhere around $300 for it at the...

I had a dog about 8 years ago get Cushings at 12 years of age. We made the same decision as you did. Always a tough one, but I think in these cases due to the age of the dog the right one.

Very interesting breed. Not many of them around. From what I've read they are a relatively new breed, developed in the 1950's. They have Weimaraner in their background and the breed is either gray or gray roan. Here is a link for information on the breed for those not familiar with it. https://gundo...

I see Gilmore's Brittanys in your dog's pedigree. Have you tried contacting them or the breeder of your dog to see if they could help placing him?

Re: Brittany Spaniel-Fuzzy Hair Coat
I have heard of the development of fuzzy haircoats in neutered or spayed dogs. All 3 of our Brittanies were spayed at 16 to 18 months of age, and two of them went from having flat, hard coats to fuzzballs. The other one kept her normal coat of hair. We have had 3 Springers, a GSP and a Lab and Gold...

Brittany's coats do vary from one dog to the next. Sometimes it's in the breeding. My last two have had short flat coats but the two before were a little more wooly. BTW, the AKC took the name "Spaniel" out of the Brittany's name in 1982. Now it's just Brittany, or maybe American Brittany or French ...
