Re: Protective vest
I do not have the Filson, but my dog has been wearing the LL bean skid plate. Fits well and seems durable. I can't justify buying anywhere else when LL Bean has a lifetime warranty no matter what. http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/48166?feat=507029-GN3&page=skid-plate-chest-protector&attrValue_0=Blaze%...

Re: Grouse / Woodcock NH
Not NH but I am heading up to Maine at the end of October. I haven't been before and am so excited. I have heard there should be tons of birds. I am in Mass. Where are you heading up from?

Re: Behavoir Change During Force Fetch
She does mount other dogs that she plays with. I always pull her off and correct. Her demeanor doing it with me did not seem to be the same as when she does it to other dogs. If that makes sense, it did not to be as "dominant", but more "emotional".

Thanks, we are in "hold" right now. So no real discomfort is involved.

Behavoir Change During Force Fetch
I am currently FF'ing my 15 month pointing lab (she's a lab who points and loves to hunt, lets leave it at that). FF is going great and our overall training tempo has increased a bit. There has not been resistance and she seems overall happy to be training more. The weird thing is last night as we a...

Re: Building a remote launcher help
It may help if you post the instruction you are using. I made mine out of a car door actuator and a car door remote control. I have seen way over complicated designs with radios etc. These are the parts I needed plus a small battery house. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006QH9C5A?psc=1&redirect=t...

Re: Dogtra 1900 NCP
I will be using it for my pointing lab. She is small 30lbs now and will only be about 50-55. I actually ended up going with the Garmin Delta for a few different reasons. One being the price and second being the size of the transmitter on the collar. The transmitter is only 2.4oz compared to the Dogt...

Dogtra 1900 NCP
Does anyone have experience with this collar? I was ready to pull the trigger on the Garmin Delta, but it seems to have many more negative reviews than positive, but the price was right. Anyone have a good reason not to get the Dogtra 1900? I am already bumping my price up from the Garmin Delta :? ....

Re: Accidental Exposure to Gun Fire
You need to build an association between gunshots and birds. Tolerance does not mean gun conditioned or proofed. If you just have a dog that tolerates it but hasn't established an association, you could be sitting in a time bomb. I am not sure I entirely understand what you are saying. Are you sayi...

Accidental Exposure to Gun Fire
I have had my 2 month old pointing lab a week now and she was inadvertently exposed to very loud gunfire and thunder simultaneously the other day. I had taken the week off to be with the new pup and during the day my neighbor started shooting some high caliber stuff while we were outside playing. I ...

Hello from Mass
Hi All, My name is Colin and I have Fox Red Pointing Lab named Ellie. She is just two months old and I have had her for a week. She is an awesome pup so far. She is very smart and has a great retrieving drive. We have been working on sit, come, appropriate puppy play, intro to a leash, crate trainin...
