Is it possible to wait to long to break a dog? I understand u can error on the breaking a dog to young, but can u also error on the side of waiting too long?

Thanks to everyone who posted ur advice was much needed. I am going to be on the cautious side and try my best to keep her out of situations where she is hunted with dogs that are not broke. Hunting a broke dog with unbroken dog

The guys I will be hunting quail with this year have dogs that are not broke. My setter will be broke by this hunting season and just wondering how bad is it gonna hurt her training to hunt her with unbroke dogs?? Any tips or suggestions?

Was going to send my almost 2 year old setter to a pro for 3 or 4 months to finish off as a hunting dog but also to evaluate to see if she had what it took to be competitive In NSTRA as I would like to run her in some also if he thought she could do ok. Need advice!

I have a 1.5 yr old setter and this is her first season. Let her hunt by herself first three or four times we went and got to point some quail each time we went. She did really good by herself and held point like she is suppose too. The problem I'm having is I've started hunting her with another dog...

How much are u looking at having invested to have a pointer professionally trained from start to finish? To have them to the level they can run in akc trials. How many years of training does it take to get to this point? Any info is apreciated

Pro trainer investment

Looking to send my English setter to be trained professionally and wanted a ball park idea on what to expect I will have invested in the dog. Want her to be mainly a hunting dog for released quail but want her trained to field trial standards. any input would be appreciated?
