Re: Talk me out of a Filson vest
I have a bunch of vests/strap vests/packs, from Cabelas, Mother, Filson etc. By far my cheap, light Cabelas ultimate strap vest gets the most use. I can wear it from September 1-January 31 without getting hot or feeling claustrophobic. It has been totally thrashed (including having my GWP puppy eat...

Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to insert another funnel reducing the opening to between 2 3/4" and 3" and will have bobs to help prevent "going out the in door". It's amazing how dangerous a place the woods behind my house must be. That makes a total of 24 quail that have disappeared within a co...

I bought a dozen quail last week and due to operator error 5 of them escaped into the woods. The final 7 were successfully transferred into the johnny house below. Because of the ones that escaped I left the door over the recall funnel open. Over the course of the next 3 days the 7 in the johnny hou...

One question I have... If a wild flush occurs, maybe not on his first encounter but at sometime during the hunting season, and the dog in no way causes it, for instance he is on my left and I cause the flush on my right, is it OK to shoot then?

One thing you might want to verify is that your own PC isn't the culprit. If you don't have your virus protection up to date. It could be a trojan on your PC that is gathering your info for the hackers.

Thanks for those tips. I kept 7 pigeons in one of these for 3 weeks and they were still flying strong at the end. I set it up for quail, and I believe a simpler design would work better for pigeons. Doxycycline is an antibiotic. It's the bacteria that would develop the immunity, not the dog, and that shouldn't happen if you give the full dosage.

I've watched the Start portion of the PS/PF system repeatedly and it seems very logical and doable, then I watched the Finish DVDs and "oh my"... It seems I'm going to have to trap every feral pigeon in Atlanta to have enough birds for the Finish portion.

Well, I decided to go with the carding option. I used kite string and 8x12" cardboard squares. I added a tail of hunter orange tape trail marking tape. The results weren't spectacular or terrible. I'm kind of leaning toward the 20 oz plastic bottle idea. That way I can go "too heavy" by adding water for the first flight and adjust accordingly rather than "Gee, that didn't work." as I watch the doomed pigeon fly off into the sunset.
