Foot hunting pointer lines:
Will be in the market for a pup in the next year or so. Never owned a pointer but want to give it a try. I'm looking for dogs that range 200-400 yards in open country, that are biddable and decent around kids and family. What lines have you had and seen that may fit the description? Nervous about th...

Re: Benellie M2 20ga questions and concerns
I just finished my first season with M2 20 gauge. I hunt out west mostly chukar. Love the gun and it's carry weight. Great for quick shooting upland bird stuff. Put a sling on it and have absolutely loved it. Adjusted the fit with the shims and it shoots where I look. My shot to kill ratio has defin...

Re: Whoe breaking & steadiness on point
Agree with quill.
Broke my first dog this summer using method.
Keeps it between the bird and dog. It takes some reps but I found it fun with little stress on either of us.

Re: Chukar guns
Just got a 20 ga. Benelli legacy same set up as montefeltro. Love it for carrying and quick pointing on chuks. My other gun is 12 ga is only 2 pounds heavier. But trust me lighter shells and lighter guns make long hikes for the devil birds more enjoyable. Almost went with the benelli m2 but syntheti...

Nice! Had my first sage grouse experience lady Saturday with my 18 month old. Neat bird for sure! Really gives them a chance to open up and range out. Can't wait for more.

Pups first wild bird (chukar) season over what's next?

He hunted from his 6th through his 9th month of life. He was only exposed to wild chukars. We got out quite a bit he covered over...
