I use straw over the dirt floor in mine. As it becomes soiled, I just add another layer of straw. When it reaches a depth of ~12" I scoop it out , heavily lime the dirt to kill pathogins and lay new straw. My coup is 15' X 21' X 8' and it takes me about 4 hours from start to finish on a full cleaning.

There are plenty of good breeders for just about any of the hunting breeds in the area. Don't rule out a pup that isn't from FT lines. There are plenty of good pups from guides and breeders that hunt their dogs, but don't test or trial. Just because one doesn't play the doggie games, doesn't mean th...

IMO, selling a pup under contract is more like renting than owning. It's like buying a car and the dealership telling you they are gonna repo it if you don't wax it, or put it in a car show. I feel that once something is sold, the original owner is forfeiting their rights. If one wants to maintain c...

As a rule of thumb, weims are a close to medium ranging breed. That was what they were bred to do. If you aren't tripping over him and he is actively hunting, then I wouldn't worry about it much. As he ages and builds confidence, he may range a bit farther, but I wouldn't count on it.

There is a lot of color variation in weims. Grey is a diluted liver. I have no doubt that the dog is pure bred, but it's color alone could be a DQ in the ring depending on how dark the liver color is. The WCA states that any color darker than mouse grey is undesirable and any distinctly blue or blac...

Both will get the job done, but if you do much waterfowling in extreme temps, you will be disappointed in either. Don't have the coats or build for the cold water. GWP, or a retriever would be a better choice. It is easier to find great gsp's than even good weims. On average, a good weim will cost a...

It most likely is a pure bred weim. I've seen quite a few of the mouse (liver) colored weims. My female is one. When here new fur comes in, it is a very dark greyish brown. She looks a lot like a solid liver GSP. It is short lived however. The sun fades it very quickly.

What size flight pens do you all suggest? I was figuring on 30' by 70'. You need a minimum of .70 square feet per bird. Unless you are planning on raising a ton of birds, the expensive incubators are over kill. You can get a little giant or a hovabator with egg turners and fans for about $150. You can hatch about 75 quail at a time with them, or 50 pheasants.I've found a incubator for $500 that rotates the eggs
