Re: Advice: Running Roosters
Thank you for all he comments. Bonsa.... You ask what I did with the pup? In the field? We left. I quit hunting those birds for the year. I have instead been working on Whoa and using bird launchers. I have taken him back in the field on planted birds, but with birds I know will fly and in situation...

Advice: Running Roosters
Hey guys. I'm looking for some advice for both my pup and my peace of mind as well. My Britt is 8 months old now. We have been hunting birds as often as time and money permit and having a blast!!! Here in Wisconsin the wild pheasant is a faded memory. We spend a fair amount of time hunting released ...

Finally clicked for the pup!!
Today was a great day for the pup and I. My 7 month old britt had the light bulb come on. This pup has crazy drive and is exceptionally birdy. I have been working him on birds for about the last 3 month. He runs really hard and is aggressive on the birds. He has been constantly bumping, flushing, an...

Should I be worried yet?
My question..... My 4 month Brittany likes to chew birds on retrieve. These are dead birds and usually frozen. I have been throwing 3 or 4 times every other night. He is bird crazy, runs to get them, and brings them right back. Never runs away with the bird, or plays keep away. I don't allow that. B...

Re: Left handed youth shotgun
As a dad with 4 kids into shooting sports I can offer the following advice. Let him test shoot some guns first. My 12 yr old daughter is lefty. She started shooting league trap at age 10. She shoots a right handed benelli m2. She is recoil sensitive so we went through a lot of guns before arriving a...

Re: Finally got my first gun dog!
Unfortunately the wild pheasant is pretty much a thing of the past here in Wisconsin. He will mostly hunt ruffed grouse with the occasional farm pheasant hunt. So far he has exceeded all my expectations. He has been a quick learner and very willing to please. Thanks for all the nice comments! As fun...

New puppy and old dog. Advise needed!!!
I have a 12 week old male Brittany. We also have a 14 yr old female cocker. The cocker is deaf, and blind in 1 eye. When I put the money down on the pup we didn'nt think it would be like this. We have done all the introductions for the last 4 weeks. Neutral site, outside, inside ect... The cocker ju...

Finally got my first gun dog!
My long wait is over. After spending years as a bird boy in my youth for every trainer and field trial I could find, parents that wouldn't let me have a dog, school, getting married, buying a house, and having 4 kids I felt that the kids were old enough and I now had enough time to devote to a gun d...

Opinions on activyl tick plus?
I was set to start using advantix for tick control on my britt pup. My vet has recommended using activyl tick plus. Anyone have any experience or opinions on this product? I want to avoid the bio spot type due to the after effects I have seen with other dogs. Thanks!
